Festival hours
Beignet Fest takes place Saturday, November 7 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at City Park Festival Grounds, with sweet and savory beignets, music and local vendors.
Getting there
Use the Festival Grounds entrance at 4 Friederichs Avenue. The organizer lists the Canal streetcar terminus at Carrollton Avenue as a walking approach. Rideshare uses the North Carrollton and Dreyfous loop, not the Festival Grounds entrance.
Payment and permitted items
The festival does not accept cash. Chairs, blankets and strollers are allowed. Outside food, drinks, tents and pets are prohibited; service animals are welcome.
Access
Limited accessible parking is at the Reunion Shelter Pavilion entrance with a state-issued permit. The FAQ lists accessible portable toilets and sensory-friendly Kids Village activities. Contact the organizer about a particular access need.
History and tradition
Beignet Fest was created by a New Orleans family in 2016 after Amy and Sherwood Collins saw a need for more programs serving children on the autism spectrum. The festival grew from that mission into a citywide celebration of traditional and inventive beignets, with proceeds supporting programs for children with autism and related developmental needs.
