The story behind Nola Street Beat
Photography became my way into New Orleans.
I came to the city in 2023. Showing up with a camera is what turned New Orleans from the place where I lived into a community I felt connected to.
How it started
I found the city by showing up.
I moved to New Orleans at the beginning of 2023. At first, I did not feel a deep attachment to the city. I loved photography, though, and that gave me a reason to start going out—to events, celebrations, parades, festivals, and places I might never have discovered otherwise.
The camera opened the door. I started meeting people, learning the rhythm of the city, and seeing how much life exists here all year long. People connected with my photographs, and I connected with the people I was photographing. The more I went out, the more that relationship grew.
As the work became bigger, I kept asking the same question: where do people find out about everything happening in New Orleans? I never wanted to miss an event, but the information could be difficult to find. That question became the next part of Nola Street Beat—bringing event details, photography, galleries, and stories together in one place.
Today, I put a great deal of time, energy, and personal investment into this work, and I am proud of what it is becoming. The long-term dream is to be present at as many events as possible: preserving the joy of locals and visitors, helping people discover what is happening, and showing more of the life that makes New Orleans unlike anywhere else.

What I photograph
People, movement, and the moments that make the city feel alive.
My primary focus is event photography around New Orleans. I work in a candid, documentary style while still looking for the strong portraits, details, and defining moments that tell the full story of a gathering.

Crowds, performers, costumes, traditions, and the energy surrounding New Orleans festival life.
Second lines & street culture
On-the-ground coverage built around movement, music, people, and respect for the culture.
Private events
Documentary-style coverage for private celebrations, organizations, and commissioned gatherings.

Occasional portrait assignments for people who want natural images with a sense of place and personality.

The project in motion
Instagram is one of the biggest parts of Nola Street Beat.
@nola_street_beat is where much of the work first reaches the community. It is a living stream of the people, events, color, and unexpected moments I encounter across the city.
The website gives every gallery and story a permanent home. Instagram keeps the conversation moving—helping people recognize one another, discover an event they missed, share a photograph, and see what New Orleans looked like on a particular day.
