History and tradition
The original Phunny Phorty Phellows appeared during Carnival in the late 1800s and became known for satire and playful mockery. A modern organization revived the tradition in 1981, and in 1982 the krewe began its Twelfth Night streetcar ride announcing the official arrival of Carnival season.
