History and tradition
Chewbacchus presented its first parade in 2011 with roughly 200 participants. The krewe opened Carnival participation to science-fiction fans, fantasy lovers, gamers, cosplayers, artists, and self-described nerds, building its identity around handmade contraptions, handcrafted throws, satire, and the formula ‘Bacchanalian revelry plus science fiction.’
