Xavier Ochsner College of Medicine has received preliminary accreditation from the Liaison Committee on Medical Education, allowing the New Orleans school to begin recruiting its first class for summer 2027.
Ochsner’s October 14 announcement says applications through the American Medical College Application Service are expected in the coming weeks. The milestone follows a June 2026 accreditation survey visit.
The school is a partnership between Xavier University of Louisiana and Ochsner Health. Its home is Benson Tower in downtown New Orleans’ BioDistrict.
This is preliminary accreditation. The first class has not started. The college’s current page still says applications will become available soon, so prospective students should use that page for the application launch and current instructions.
