New Orleans is under a wind advisory scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. Friday, October 16, and continue until 3 p.m. Saturday, October 17. The National Weather Service advisory includes both Eastern and Western Orleans.
Forecasters expect north winds of 20 to 25 mph, with frequent gusts of 30 to 35 mph. The advisory says unsecured objects can blow around, tree limbs could come down and a few power outages are possible.
Secure loose patio furniture, decorations and other outdoor items before the wind arrives. The weather service also urges extra caution while driving, especially in high-profile vehicles.
If you have outdoor plans Friday evening or Saturday, check your organizer’s latest notice before leaving. Use the New Orleans weather office for updated local alerts and timing.
