New Orleans is under a flood watch on Sunday, October 4, with more rounds of heavy rain expected into the evening. If you have plans across town, check the current alerts before leaving.
The National Weather Service says another 3 to 5 inches of rain, with locally higher totals, is possible across the broader watch area through midnight. That is a regional forecast, so it does not mean every New Orleans neighborhood will receive the same amount.
A separate advisory covers parts of the metro area
At 10:33 a.m. Sunday, the weather service issued a flood advisory for portions of Jefferson, Orleans and St. Bernard parishes until 1:30 p.m. It reported heavy rain and minor flooding already happening or expected shortly in low areas and places with poor drainage.
