Overnight lane work begins Monday, October 5, on I-10 in St. John the Baptist Parish. Drivers heading into or out of the New Orleans area should allow extra time after 8 p.m.
The Louisiana DOTD notice lists alternating, intermittent closures in both directions between mile markers 196.9 and 202, from the St. James Parish line to the Spencer Chauvin Bridge. Crews will patch roadway joints.
One lane stays open
The work window is 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. nightly, weather permitting. DOTD says one lane will remain open and moderate delays are possible.
FOX 8 reports that the work is expected to last about two weeks. DOTD’s notice lists October 16 as the end date, but pairs it with an inconsistent weekday. Check the agency’s notice for schedule updates before planning a later trip.
Airline Highway is an alternative to consider when traffic backs up. DOTD’s notice includes direction-specific detours using US 61, LA 3188 and LA 641. Follow posted signs and check current traffic before leaving.
