In the October 6 outlook issued at 7 a.m. Central, forecasters give the disturbance, AL92, a 90% chance of developing within both 48 hours and seven days. It is expected to turn north or northeast toward the northern Gulf Coast by the end of the week.
Those percentages describe the chance of a tropical cyclone forming. The Hurricane Center says it is still too early to determine specific northern Gulf Coast impacts. A New Orleans landfall or a particular local rainfall total has not been established.
