The request to demolish the circa-1905 house at 1830 Fern Street was withdrawn before its planned October 1 City Council consideration, according to the Preservation Resource Center’s October 6 report.
The raised-basement house is in the Carrollton Historic District. The Historic District Landmarks Commission had denied demolition on September 2. PRC says the applicant withdrew the appeal after learning that District A Councilmember Aimee McCarron planned to oppose it.
PRC and neighborhood representatives had argued against demolition. At the September 2 meeting, PRC urged the owner to secure the building and consider rehabilitation.
PRC’s report does not identify a rehabilitation start date or a finished plan for the property.
