The Fair Grounds hosts two long weekends celebrating Louisiana music, food and cultural traditions alongside visiting performers.
Which days is Jazz Fest open?
The organizer confirms April 22–25 and April 29–May 2, 2027. There are eight festival days; the Fair Grounds festival is closed April 26–28. Published hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., with last admission at 6:30 p.m.
Music, food and culture

Tickets and the daily schedule
The official FAQ says tickets go on sale with the talent announcement. The detailed performance grids, often called the cubes, arrive closer to the festival. Check the 2027 releases before choosing dates around a particular performer.
Planning your visit
The venue is the Fair Grounds Race Course at 1751 Gentilly Boulevard. Allow for walking between stages and time for food stops. Review the official transportation map and permitted-items guidance before setting out.
History and tradition
Jazz Fest began in 1970 after producer George Wein was asked to create a festival that could celebrate the music and culture of New Orleans and Louisiana. The first edition was modest, but its mix of jazz, gospel, blues, Cajun, zydeco, R&B, food, crafts, and cultural demonstrations established the model that still defines the festival.
