Krewe of BOO: start time and parade route
When it rolls
The Halloween parade starts Saturday, October 24 at 6:30 p.m. It features decorated floats, costumes and marching groups.
Where the route goes
The route begins on Elysian Fields Avenue, follows North Peters and Decatur past Jackson Square, then reaches Canal Street. After a turn at Burgundy Street, it returns along Canal and continues on Tchoupitoulas to Andrew Higgins Drive.
History and tradition
Krewe of BOO! was founded in 2007 and first rolled in 2008 as a fundraiser for Hurricane Katrina relief. After several years without a parade, the event was revived in 2013 and developed into New Orleans’ official Halloween parade, combining Carnival-scale floats with family-friendly monsters, costumes, marching groups, and locally produced throws.
