History and tradition
Southern Decadence began in 1972 as an end-of-summer gathering organized by a small, diverse group of friends who called themselves the Decadents. What started as a house party and farewell celebration grew into a major French Quarter tradition with a walking parade, annual themes, grand marshals, music, nightlife, and charitable support.
