This animal-rescue fundraiser combines a run or walk through Lake Lawn Metairie Cemetery with a separate celebration for pets.
Race morning schedule
On Sunday, October 11, packet pickup opens at 7 a.m. The leashed pet parade is at 8 a.m.; the 5K run starts at 8:30 and the walk at 8:31. The organizer lists a pet blessing at 9:30 and awards at 9:45.
Can dogs participate in the 5K?
Dogs are welcome in the leashed pet parade, but the organizer explicitly prohibits dogs on the 5K course. Arrange someone to stay with your pet if you plan to take part in both activities.
Running for animal rescue
The ninth annual event supports animal rescue through NOLA Girl Charitable Giving. In-person and virtual registration options are listed. Participants can also create fundraising teams; check the registration page for current fees and participation benefits.
Planning your visit
The host is Heaven’s Pets at Lake Lawn Metairie. The race instructions direct drivers to the lots beside the funeral home and prohibit parking on the grass. Review the course and packet-pickup instructions before race morning, and allow time to find your start area.
